Donor Spotlight: Virginia and Harvey Kimmel
- Feb 9, 2021
When major benefactors Virginia and Harvey Kimmel talk about supporting The Symphonia’s Building a String Orchestra and Self-Esteem program, which provides music lessons to underserved children at the Boys and Girls Club in Delray Beach, one word invariably comes up: impact.
“The music education this program provides is having a tremendous impact on the lives of these children. It's so rewarding thing to see students who didn't even know how to hold an instrument start playing small musical pieces and after a year, they’re really quite accomplished. It's utterly amazing.”
Added Harvey: “It very much fits the programming that we like to support.”
And support they do… the Kimmels have been creating and funding dozens of cultural arts and education programs for children and teens in South Florida, Pennsylvania and Michigan for more than three decades. They have been committed to the Boys and Girls Club program through The Symphonia for the past three years.
The Kimmels also recently served as Honorary Chairs for Symphonia of HeARTs, a virtual gala and auction benefiting The Symphonia and local artisans and businesses impacted by the Covid-19 crisis. The couple hosted a virtual cocktail party in which they gave donors a private guided tour of their extensive art collection.
“We have been blessed to have the Kimmels among our largest supporters,” said Annabel Russell, The Symphonia’s Executive Director. “By funding our ‘Building a String Orchestra and Self-Esteem’ program, they are helping countless underserved children in our community express themselves in new and positive ways.”
That’s the perfect definition of the word impact.
