Edith and Martin B.* Stein

“After the demise of the Florida Philharmonic in 2003, Martin and I both felt that it was imperative to keep classical music alive and available to the South Florida audience. We were able to financially support the efforts of establishing a new orchestra. It was, and still is, an honor, a privilege and a pleasure to continue help providing much needed funds to this significant cause.”

Edith and Martin Stein became permanent residents of Boca Raton in 1990 but never forgot their roots in New Jersey, where Martin began his career in his family business. From there, he moved on to become a real estate executive and then co-founder and Director of Enzon Pharmaceuticals.

Upon their move to Florida, the Steins quickly became involved in numerous civic and charitable organizations. However, the couple continued their support of many New Jersey institutions, including the Jewish Federation of Middlesex County, Temple Emanuel, Embrace Kids Foundation and others.

Within the Boca Raton community, they have been major philanthropists, giving both time and money to The Symphonia, where Edith is a member of the Board and Martin holds the permanent title of Honorary Chairman. A few of the other organizations that benefit from their generosity include the Boca Raton Museum of Art, Boca Raton Regional Hospital Foundation, Jewish Federation of South Palm Beach County and Florence Fuller Child Development Centers. Edith’s love of animals is revealed by her support of Tri-County Animal Rescue.
