The Boca Raton Symphonia’s Meet the Orchestra series has been providing children the opportunity to learn about classical music in a fun and engaging way.

Children through age 14 and their parents get the chance to attend a live dress rehearsal with orchestra at the Robert’s Theater at St. Andrew’s School, 3900 Jog Road, in Boca Raton while also getting to meet the musicians and participate in an “instrument petting zoo.”

The program takes place Saturdays from 10:30 a.m. to noon and is set to feature these upcoming special events.

On Jan. 4, the series will hold the Speaking in Music program, which gives guests the chance to learn about the ways composers communicate their musical ideas to musicians. Attendees will also get to meet violinist Danie Andai.

The You Get Rhythm program will be Feb. 8 and will provide guests the opportunity to create basic music rhythms and learn about famous composers Zwilich and Beethoven. Conductor James Judd and soloists Elissa Lee Koljonen and Yumi Kendall are also set to be on hand.

Later, on March 28, the Come Compose with Us program will allow attendees to compose music as a group through the information learned from previous sessions. Piano Soloist Marika Bournaki is slated to be in attendance.

The Boca Raton Symphonia is recognized as the region’s world-class chamber orchestra and helps benefit the music community in South Florida.

Tickets for children are free, while adult admission is $5. Reservations are required.
