Love, The Symphonia


The Symphonia’s second live concert of the 2020-2021 season will take place in its temporary venue at the Grand Oasis Ballroom in the Boca Raton Marriott. All required CDC protocols will be in place, including mask wearing and social distancing, for both audience and musicians, so you can once again experience the joy of a live music performance.

Principal Conductor Alastair Willis will conduct a 60-minute concert without intermission featuring Deborah Fleisher, Harp Soloist

Currently, he serves as Music Director of the South Bend Symphony Orchestra. A brilliant musician, Mr. Willis is known for his strong podium presence and engaging and attractive personality; his appearances with The Symphonia are audience favorites.

Deborah Fleisher

Deborah Fleisher

Deborah Fleisher is a third generation harpist. She began her studies with her grandmother, Nettie Druzinsky at age seven. An accomplished pianist Nettie was essentially self-taught on the harp. Her son Edward gave her lessons on his breaks from studying harp with Carlos Salzedo at the Curtis Institute. Edward was principal harpist with the Chicago Symphony for forty-two years.

While the ballroom is not a theater in the traditional sense, the Boca Raton Marriott does have the potential to serve nicely as an effective and safe performance venue for a smaller orchestra of approximately 14 musicians.  By using a reduced musician roster and by initially eliminating brass and woodwind instruments due to the known risks of those musicians passing airborne saliva, The Symphonia is attending to the safety of its musicians and audience.
